Offshore RacingOffshore racing is just one of several boat racing formats currently gaining in popularity, though unfortunately it is somewhat regional in nature.Depending on your location, or your desire to travel, watching the Unlimited hydros, the Champ Boats, or the drag boats run can be exciting as well. Because the level of popularity is still on the increase, televised coverage of the races is very limited. Unfortunately, the individual races that are televised tend to be aired at less than convenient times, and well after the races have actually taken place. With the onset of the 2008 racing season, the good people at Supercat Racing made camera and broadcast equipment available to do on-line, "live" broadcasts for a limited number of races during the season. Thank you Supercat Racing for a job well done. In addition, and equally important is the on-line, play by play announcing by the folks at Talk Offshore.com. Be sure to stop by their website and check them out. Offshore racing and the racers within, are currently organized under several different organizations, each with similar, though still different boat classes and rules within which they race. In the U.S., the two biggest organizations are the Offshore Super Series, and the Super Boat International / APBA Offshore. Not to be outdone, and just as important are the regional organizations, OPA Racing Organization, and the Pacific Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (POPRA) Finally, in the European theater, Power Boat P1 is the organizing body overseeing the offshore racing venues. Below, you can find the current, though in some cases tentative race schedules for each of the associations. Please check their websites often to verify and confirm the dates and locations, as they do change occassionally.
Please feel free to bookmark this page and stop back often to review any changes to the list.
